Can I share this out?
- Yes! Please share this as far and wide as you’d like, the more eyes see it, the more potential donor matches there are.
Do I need to know Kaden?
- Nope! If you stumble across this site and don’t know anything about me other than what’s listed here and still want to apply, you are an incredible person. Anybody can donate!
Can I donate anonymously?
- Yes! If for absolutely any reason you’d like to remain anonymous, you are legally protected by both federal and state law. I will never find out who you are or any identifying info if you choose to remain private.
What if I don’t know my blood type?
- No sweat! One of the first stages of the evaluation process is blood typing, so that will be taken care of very quickly. If we’re not compatible, you won’t have to undergo further testing, unless you decide to donate to someone else.
What if I do know my blood type, and it’s not B or O?
- Unfortunately, if you know 100% without a doubt your blood type (few people do), then you will not qualify to be my living donor. Feel free to support me in your thoughts, and please spread the word to others you know!
Do I need to live in Seattle? or Washington?
- Nope! Nearly the entire evaluation can be done remotely via blood testing. Only the very final step of the evaluation must be done in Seattle, and there are ways for the required travel and lodging to be compensated by my insurance and/or yours.
How do I know if I qualify?
- The UW medical team will evaluate your current health, medical history, and any potential blockers to understand if it is safe for you to donate! They are on your side, and will only approve you for donation if they are beyond sure it is safe.
Will I be compensated for donating?
- To prevent coercion, bribes, and other unethical activity, all forms of compensation for organ donation is highly illegal in the United States.
- With that said, I will quite literally owe you my life.
- Additionally, your job(s) will be federally protected by FMLA, and if you live in Washington, most, if not all, of your wages will be covered by various state programs that support living donors.
